OMG it’s a person!

Literally overnight, Sienna has figured out how to draw… a picture of Mummy! with hands, feet, eyeballs, even a tummy button. And big hips. Thanks darling. Nice to see I’m smiling!

Why on earth would you join the airforce?

We were watching the RAAF ad where the supplies are dropped out the back of the plane (among other exciting things).
Sienna: What’s that!?
Me: That’s what happens when you join the airforce.
Chelsea: What! Your suitcases get dropped out the back of the plane??!

Gatorpillars and guttermelon

I hope there are no gatorpillars in this guttermelon.

Sienna’s 3rd birthday

The cake Chelsea made for Sienna’s birthday

...with a little help from Mum, but a creation she can be proud of. She mixed the icing to the exact shade of green, made one layer, and decorated the whole thing... finishing at about 10pm!
Having asked for an Iggle Piggle cake – cake being the most exciting thing about having a birthday this year – Sienna was absolutely delighted when she was presented with this on the morning of her birthday. Perfecto!

Another milestone - out of nappies!!

Sienna took the first steps of her life on her 1st birthday. On her 3rd birthday (actually the day after) she decided she would wear undies for the first time. Just like that! In typical Sienna-style, she decided when she was good and ready. Very proud of our big girl!

Sisterly love

C: Do you not love me?
S: Yeeeeah...no.
C: You mean you do love me?
S: NO!
C: Well I love you...
S: I do NOT love you!

Sienna’s latest expressions

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!

*sneeze* “Excuse me!” (to no one in particular)

It’s not white, it’s wipe!!! (referring to the colour)

Milky time!! Mummeee it’s milky time!! (at random time of day)

Sister? Where are you! (calling Chelsea)

It’s all my fault.

It’s not me, it’s YOU!

Andy and Sienna

Sienna: Look at the balloon Dad – it’s high.
Andy: Yes, it’s as high as a kite.
Sienna: No Dad, it’s as high as a balloon.

Andy: Is that a wand Sienna?
Sienna: No, it’s a stick. A stick with sparkles.

Every day is Wednesday

Saturday morning:

Sienna, where’s Chelsea?
She’s at school.
But it’s Saturday.
No, it’s not, it’s Wednesday!

Well, that makes sense then.

Why you should never rush Chelsea at the dinner table.

“When I eat too fast my brain hurts.”

Our budding MasterChef?

Sadly no. I had to be quick to snap this one – once the smarties were out of reach it was off with the hat and apron and back to the toys. Great little Tupperware party at Aunty Nat’s where the kids made gingerbread cookies (and this one ate the decorations).

Sienna tells Dad…

I can’t fly yet Daddy.

8.45pm

You might think butter wouldn’t melt, but this is taken at 8.45pm accompanied by:
“I’m NOT sleepy! I’m wide awake! It’s not sleeping-time! I want my toys! I want a book! Not that one! Animals! Give me animal book! NO! I’m not sleeping!”

It had to happen eventually...

Today Chelsea’s front tooth finally came out!

Dear tooth fairy, no pressure but...

Lots of cuddles

Sienna has had a fever this weekend and while no work has been done, it has been nice to sit and cuddle her for hours on end, watching ABC Kids. The best part was having her drowsily put her arms around my neck and say “I love you mummy” over and over.

Anyone missing a tent peg?

The contents of Chelsea’s pocket in her school uniform:
1 dried leaf;
an assortment of sequins and beads;
2 five-cent coins;
a disintegrated tissue;
1 tent peg.

Fine food at the Chelsea Cafe

Our first ever ‘breakfast in bed’ this morning began being presented with a menu written by Chelsea (translated here):
Bread
Butter
Vegemite
Jam
Food
Fruit
Milo Yoghurt
Drinks
Milk
Water
Cold water (this had an ice-cube in it)
Treats
Jellytops (ice-cream)

Chelsea then took down our orders on a little pad, went away and made our breakfast, and served it to us in bed!
Fortunately she could understand her shorthand, but even to us it was obvious what ‘cowld weorta’ is!

The service was outstanding, the chef even ran in to apologise for taking so long, as ‘the butter was hard’.

Ant bites

An observation from Chelsea on ant bites (29 November 2009):

“If you’re not allergic to them, do you know what life is like? They just hurt one day then they’re gone.”

More valuable than money… fairy dust.

Chelsea lost her second tooth on Sunday afternoon. Instead of a shiny gold coin, she requested (in a note to the tooth fairy) ‘a note back and some fairy dust please’.

That’s for kids

Andy said to Chelsea: “Remember when you were little and we used to go to a cafe for a baby cino? Was it fun?”
Chelsea: “Yes.”
Andy: “Would you like us to do that again soon?”
Chelsea stopped and looked at him, eyes rolling. “Daddy, listen. ‘Baby’ cino.”

Chelsea’s missing tooth

Chelsea got her first wiggly tooth a few days before school started – it came out on 12th February, one week after her 6th birthday. (As promised! She’s been wishing for wiggly teeth since the other kids in her class got them so I told her they start coming out when you’re six. Bang on Mum.) The tooth fairy gave her a shiny gold coin – never had she seen one shinier! Magic.

It’s the truth...

‘Mummy, where’s my Milo... again?! I said please.’
‘Sorry darling, I must be getting old and vague.’
‘No you’re not!! You won’t be old for AGES!’
Well she said it!

Night night

I just kissed my girls goodnight…
“I love you Chelsea”
“I love you too Mummy”
“I love you Sienna”
“Oh thank you mummy! thank you!”

Sour Grapes

Sienna doesn’t call Chelsea by her name currently, she calls her “sow-graves” (from [Chel]sea Graves). She can say Chelsea but prefers to call her by her new name. Okay…
